Save Energy, Increase Comfort

Home Insulation

Our Promise

We have it in stock – or will get it for you fast!

Home insulation is a smart investment. With the right insulation products, your home will stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter, allowing your HVAC system to work more efficiently. Save money, use less energy and add value to your home. Additionally, improve air quality and reduce unwanted noise.

When it comes to your new home, addition or home improvement project, we place equal importance on the big picture and the details. Although insulation may account for only a small portion of your overall project budget, not all insulations are made the same, and the decisions you make can make a big difference to your quality of life and your household budget for years to come!

Rockwool® Stone Wool Insulation

Rockwool’s extensive range of stone wool insulation products makes choosing the right insulation easy! In addition to superior insulating performance, stone wool offers these benefits:

  • Fire Resistant – Rockwool insulation offers a barrier that can delay the spread of fire and provide you and your family with precious extra minutes to escape. Its unique composition won’t burn or release toxic gases or smoke when exposed to high heat.
  • Water Repellant – Rockwool insulation actually repels water and therefore does not support mold or fungal growth, which means a safer indoor environment for your home.
  • Reduces Noise – Rockwool insulation is created using a unique combination of stone and recycled slag, a by-product of steel production that would otherwise go to a landfill. Its non-directional fiber structure and high density give it tremendous dimensional stability and make it an effective barrier against noise.
  • Easy to Cut and Install – Rockwool stone wool insulation is easy to cut precisely with any serrated blade, even a bread knife! This allows you to accurately trim the insulation to the wall or ceiling cavity and get an optimal fit around electrical boxes, wiring, plumbing and ductwork. The result is better R‑value and maximum sound absorption.

Northville Lumber carries the following Rockwool Insulation Products:

COMFORTBATT® is a stone wool insulation product for use in both new residential construction and renovations. This semi-rigid batt has a unique flexible edge designed to compress when it is inserted into exterior walls, attics, ceilings and floor frames and expand to give a complete fill. By compensating for these normal variations in stud centers caused by distortion or warping, Rockwool COMFORTBATT® ensures the maximum performance is achieved.

SAFE ‘n’ SOUND® – Rockwool SAFE ‘n’ SOUND is a stone wool insulation product for use in interior wall partitions of residential wood and steel stud construction where superior fire resistance and acoustical performance are required. This non-combustible, lightweight product has excellent acoustical dampening properties and is dimensionally stable, making it ideal for walls, ceiling and floor applications.

Johns Manville® Fiberglass Insulation

Johns Manville fiberglass insulation delivers proven performance and energy savings at a greater value compared to other types of insulation materials, offering the only complete line of certified Formaldehyde-free™ fiberglass home insulation.

Johns Manville fiberglass insulation works in every room and space in your home, with R‑values to ensure there’s effective solution for every project and adding comfort and lasting value to the life of your home.

Kraft-Faced Batts & Rolls – Kraft-faced batts and rolls are ideal for moisture control in exterior walls. Pre-cut batts are available in sizes to fit most standard wall cavities; the rolls can be cut to fit any size your project requires.

Unfaced Batts & Rolls – Johns Manville’s unfaced building insulation is made with a formaldehyde-free thermosetting binder for better indoor air quality, providing effective heat control from the exterior while also effectively controlling unwanted noise in interior walls.

Kingspan XPS® Rigid Insulation Board

Kingspan GreenGuard Type IV 25 PSI Insulation Board is an ideal exterior insulation, meeting your needs for multiple applications. Its extruded polystyrene (XPS) construction provides superior moisture resistance. And since it does not absorb moisture, it retains its insulating properties over time.

With an R‑Value of 5.0 per inch of thickness, the board increases the energy efficiency of your structures. Plus it’s lightweight, easy to handle, and easy to cut without special tools. Used for below slab, cavity wall, and foundation applications, this rigid insulation board meets and exceeds all Type IV and Type X specifications.

OSI QUAD® Spray Foam Insulation

OSI QUAD Foam is part of the QUAD Window and Door System and is a spray foam insulation product used to insulate and seal around windows and doorframes. This low pressure polyurethane spray foam sealant is specifically designed to seal gaps, cracks, holes and voids around windows and doors, but can also be used for jambs, mud sills, header joints, corner joints, top plate penetrations, electrical and plumbing penetrations and other areas where air infiltration or heat loss may occur.

Its low pressure/low expansion feature will not warp or deform your windows or doors, and its quick-setting formulation can be cut or trimmed in less than an hour.

In addition to the OSI QUAD Foam, we carry the applicator guns and the cleaner to get your foam insulation job done, and done right.

Ask the Experts

What is R‑Value and why is it important?

The common denominator among varieties of insulation is the R‑value. R‑value is a measurement of thermal resistance and measures the ability of heat to transfer from one side of an object to another.

In real terms, it simply measures how well your insulation is doing its job. The higher the R‑value, the better. Depending on the material, thicker insulation generally has a higher R‑value. Most insulation types today rate from about 10 to a high of around 38.

Along with knowing the R‑value of a particular insulation, it is also important to calculate the R‑value of the total wall, including siding, house wrap, sheathing and drywall. Proper installation is necessary to maintain an insulation product’s R‑value.

At Northville Lumber, we’ve taken the guesswork out of the equation, because we only carry the insulation products we trust and use ourselves. Whether you need attic insulation, wall insulation, basement insulation or crawl space insulation, our insulation experts have the product and project knowledge to make sure you’re selecting the best insulation product for your home or project.
