Decorative & Functional

The addition of interior trim and moulding to your home is like icing on a cake – they add the visual touch that caps off your home’s personality and appearance!

There are many great reasons to install trim and moulding in your home. Whether your intent is to increase the value of your home, to showcase your own unique sense of style, or to serve a more functional purpose, wall trim and moulding offer you the opportunity to turn your house into the home you have always imagined. Unique and special, that is the difference!

Mouldings serve a range of functional purposes. Baseboards, for example, conceal the gap between your floor and wall. Similarly, casings disguise the opening between your door and wall. Mouldings also serve to transition from different materials, such as paint and wallpaper, or can be used to emphasize contrasts between the same materials.

Wainscoting and chair rails beautifully accent a room while protecting walls from scuffs and dents. Crown mouldings soften the transition from wall to ceiling and add a distinctive look and charm to any room. Panel mouldings can be used to create a "paneled" look to your walls, hence the name.

Ask the Experts
Which Type of Moulding is Right for my Home?

That’s a decision only you can make.

Are you a traditionalist who doesn’t mind spending a little extra time pampering your home to maintain the authentic properties of wood, or do you prefer the carefree maintenance that wood replacement products offer?

Either way, at Northville Lumber we carry the best-of-the-best that each option has to offer and we’ll take the time to answer all of your questions to help you make the decision that’s right for you and your home.

Custom Runs are Our Specialty!

We stock more than 200 moulding profiles, and can special order hundreds more, but if you still can't find just the right look, we can custom order virtually any design. We can help you create your custom design or we can match any existing profile. Perhaps you're recreating a detail that you've seen at Northville's Mill Race Village, Greenfield Village, or Detroit's Indian Village. Bring a picture or sketch, we can help!

Add Character to Your Home with Moulding Buildups

Moulding buildups enable you to combine multiple moulding profiles to produce an extraordinary effect, using combinations of existing profiles of crown mouldings, base mouldings, casings and more. Our moulding buildup experts can share examples to spark unlimited creativity and imagination.

Have a picture of something you’ve seen and loved? Bring it in…we’ll help you match it!
